The American Place

[Hartford Public Library, USA]

The American Place is a free library service of Hartford Public Library for immigrants and refugees. Our goal is to help to adjust to life in America while preserving elements of the native culture.

Stay current! Immigration lectures, are regularly scheduled to provide information about various immigration topics, e.g. relative petitions, adjustment of status, public assistance, etc. (Interpretation into other languages.)

Study on your own schedule and at your own pace, using a wide range of self-study resources: computer programs, DVDs, and CDs. Materials are available for studying on-site or for borrowing and studying at home. Staff is available to assist you in your selection.

Learn about the challenges and issues facing Hartford’s immigrants and refugees, and improve your knowledge of Hartford’s diverse cultures.

Weekends and weeknights
Classes start three times a year: September for the fall session; January for the winter session; and June for the summer session.
