The following is a list of ongoing programs:
Arabic Literature Discussion Group (In English)
This discussion group was started in October 1996, following two Arabic language classes that were offered in the Library in 1995. The group reads and discusses works of Arabic Literature representative of most of the Arab countries.
Citizenship Classes | Clases de Ciudadanía
Co-sponsored by Boulder County Community Action Programs and the Boulder Public Library, these classes provide help with citizenship questions and practicing the citizenship interview, and offer information about the citizenship process.
Conversations in English
These small groups have received national recognition for efforts to help people new to the U.S. learn English. These informal, friendly groups are led by volunteer native speakers of American English. Each group meets once a week.
Conversations in English Book Club - for New Readers In English
Started in September 1997, this club is intended for people who like to read and who read English as a second language. Currently, members are from the library’s various Conversations in English classes, though anyone is welcome. The club is set up to focus on a specific genre or topic during four-week sessions.
Reading to End Racism
A joint project re-introduced to Boulder Valley Middle schools during 97-98 school year. A joint project with Women's International League for Peace & Freedom and BVSD Multi Ethnic Action Committee. The goal of this project is to talk to students about racism through readings and personal experiences and to explore various ways to deal with it.
