Intercultural Library - Interkulturelle Bibliothek

[Bibliotheksportal - Interkulturelle Bibliothek, Germany]

German Library Association (Deutscher Bibliotheksverband, dvb) designed a new web portal, the Intercultural Library. This is the first Internet platform in Germany to serve the twin goals of library-specific communication and the provision of important aids to everyday library work.

Via "springboards" for more than 20 languages, the Intercultural Library provides information on foreign-language book collections in public libraries in Germany and also links to texts for library work, multilingual glossaries and online dictionaries, multilanguage online information services and other information portals. The library-work-specific level comprises texts and links to integration strategies, professional literature, professional forums, organisations and associations, and also practical examples from other libraries at home and abroad.

The Intercultural Library now allows the know-how of the best libraries to be bundled together, networked and made available to all other libraries for subsequent use.
