Best Practices

Talk Time Program

[The Seattle Public Library, USA]
The Library’s innovative Talk Time program provides patrons with the opportunity to practice speaking English while learning about the library and other important survival tools in a low-stress environment. Patrons learn how to read a bus schedule, receive information about national holidays, register for library cards and learn about the library. The program’s coordinator regularly meets with refugee service agencies and successfully relies on word-of-mouth referrals to fill up the four Talk Time classes.
